BPB Blog Policies
I started this "blog" the summer of 2003. Mouse and I headed north to the beach for an extended period of time and I was looking for a way to communicate with Liz & the GG without having to call all the time (I hate phones). So, I started putting pictures and little bits of "news" on my web page: "bird wings on beach, no body around, who dunit?", "grandaddy patrolled the old road with his stick", "Mommy, the van makes a funny noise when I turn the steering wheel", etc. People actually started reading the dern thing and eventually it took on a life of its own. It's often pretty lame but it's also amazing how many days I think, "there is nothing to blog about today" and then some kind of craziness will come along from literally out of the blue that'll just about make me fall down laughing and I have my blog. And these are my posting policies, which will most certainly keep evolving:
- I will almost always post good news about family and friends, whether asked to or not: birthdays, graduations, awards, achievements, you name it! If I forget your birthday, hit me! I usually can't remember my own except that people have a strange habit of reminding me of it, prob'ly because I'm the oldest of a whole bunch of relatives born in 1954 ;-)
- If news about family and friends involves difficult issues (health problem, job loss, relationship difficulty, etc.), I will probably not post it unless I am asked to. If you ask me to post something, I'll be happy to. I do care -- a lot -- but I won't post potentially sensitive information about someone without permission and I don't want to misinterpret information I've heard 2nd or 3rd hand.
- Deaths I will post. Please don't make me do that too often.
- Political stuff I generally stay away from unless I can work it from a humorous angle. I do have my little issues but I am not really a very political aminal. I do appreciate hearing the views of others, especially those in the younger generation. I love you all, I doubt if we all agree on political views. I sure don't always agree with the GG! ;-)
- My general intent is not to embarrass or otherwise make fun of anyone. Certain groups, especially those the closest to me, are unfortunate enough that they will make it in here as the butt of a lame joke occasionally: the GG, my kids, some octogenarians I often have to deal with, my rattle-trap old house and vehicles, a few engineers, aminals I sometimes have to put up with, and, occasionally, various of my partners in crime. I love you guys, you know that!
- Last but not least, Mom, don't worry about me making fun of myself. The craziest things happen to me and I'm having fun doing this ridiculous blog or I wouldn't be doing it! >:->>
