Exhausted (but wi-fi-i-fied)

I actually think I am too exhausted to walk the beach tonight. There is no real reason why. The last week has been rather intense and today was a long, busy day. The good news? Well, I had a DSL and a wireless modem installed in the moomincabin today. I think it took a grand total of 10 minutes to install. One by one, I got my MacBook, my iPhone, and my iPad online. The jamadots guy asked about my loverly old work laptop and I said, “Oh, that one won’t go online. It had a ‘stroke’ last week and the wifi thingy is broken.” “Well,” said he, “you can plug this cable into it.” I did and, voila… Well, no it didn’t go quite that smoothly. Suddenly, nothing would go online. What was wrong? I was starting to panic! Am I gonna have to call the jamadots guy back? And then I remembered that, because my loverly old work laptop also does not have even one iota of battery power, I cannot use it without plugging the power cord into an outlet. And guess what I UNplugged in order to plug it in? Canya guess? Yeah. The brand new wireless modem. Moved the laptop plug to a different outlet, plugged the modem back in and… VOILA!!! Everything was online again, INCLUDING my loverly old work laptop! I sent the crappy iPhone photoooo in this post to my work buddies down there on the Planet Ann Arbor and told them I missed them. And I do.

And that was about all, except for, lemme see, a couple early morning walks on the beach, one of them with our northern correspondent Paulette, followed by a solo trip out to the Res to get coffee and wifi at the Dancing Crane Coffeehouse. And to warm up, since it was in the 40s this morning. Visit with the Beautiful Jan. DSL installation followed by a few hours of work, then business in town, dinner at the Cozy Inn, and back to town to drop off The Commander. Yes, that was two trips to town. Plus the Res. And a lot of time with The Commander, who is a wonderful person (and one who reads this nonsense) but is also my mother… I’m about done for the day, I think. If the midnight 10 o’clock sun of the Great White North were not so bright, I think I would crash now.

Incoherently yours,
Kayak Woman

P.S. Guess what? I ended up walking the beach anyway. Why? Because our northern correspondent Paulette texted me from down there to say that there were sandhill crane tracks in front of the moomincabin. Of course, I haaaad to go see those! And now, good night.

Sometimes it’s the smallest thing that is the issue. My husband always says to start from the simple and go to the more complicated. That’s probably because I called to complain that our cable wasn’t working…he looked behind the cabinet and it had come unplugged. I felt a BIT stupid. Nice to hear you’re all wired!!

I like to pay attention to animals and birds who show up. Crane symbolizes longevity, and creation through focus. From Ted Andrews book, Animal-Speak, “The crane can teach you how to celebrate your creative resources and keep them alive, regardless of the conditions in which they are manifest, both by simply having the proper focus in your life.”
I like the longevity association, and I think truly you are manifesting your creativity regardless of conditions.
You go girl, and yes, rest is good too! It must be great to have all your online resources at hand now too!
    love you,
    Aimee
